Set in a historic conservation zone, this expansive family home is a product of successful negotiations with council and neighbours. Its design respects the surroundings, with meticulous attention paid to the angles of the roofline and the front façade to echo the historic bungalows in the area.
The multiple roof planes were carefully designed to both incorporate a large 16kW, 56 panel solar system and allow for access to natural light through high lite windows and skylights.
Two efficient inverter reverse-cycle air-conditioning units were installed to reduce running costs by isolating air flow to where it is needed while maximising comfort for those inside.
The layout of the home was designed to occupy the south and west of the block. This kept the favourable northern aspect free for morning sun into the bedrooms, living areas and rear yard while protecting and providing shade during hot afternoons.
Upon entering through the front door, one is immediately met with the rich textures of a burnished concrete floor, protected meticulously during the entire construction process. The hallway unfolds into the heart of the house, showcasing the superb craftsmanship evident in every aspect of its design and construction.
The kitchen forms part of the central gathering space as per the clients’ brief. The innovative use of materials and finishes and the seamless integration of practical elements like air-conditioning grilles exhibit the high-quality craftsmanship.
The main indoor living area, designed as a central gathering place, enjoys varying ceiling heights that adjust to the room proportions and the complex roof structure above. It serves as an integral part of the home’s layout, designed for family interactions and cosy living.
The sleeping quarters of the house are strategically placed around the central pool. The master suite, including the ensuite and walk-in robe, benefits from the thoughtfully planned layout, providing a private retreat within the family home.
The outdoor area features a centrally located pool, acting as a focal point around which the house is designed. The pool area, along with its landscaping, creates a serene spot for relaxation and recreation.
