A unique space for a growing family with its idyllic northfacing backyard.

locationLinden Park
floor area495 m2

Our clients desired a unique space for their growing family on this Linden Park block with its idyllic north-facing backyard. The home’s design pays tribute to this desire, showcasing a minimal materials palette of slim bricks, rammed earth, and Blackbutt timber. These materials are used consistently to break down the barrier between the interior and exterior. The rammed earth walls, skilfully embedded with structural steel, extend from inside to the verandah, beautifully integrating the home with its surroundings.

The home boasts multiple living areas that are seamlessly connected to the backyard and pool, including the alfresco living area. Equipped with an outdoor kitchen and operable louvres, this area serves as a perfect spot for entertaining, relaxation, and family life.

The heart of the home features a stylish and practical kitchen. The pièce de résistance is the cantilevered concrete kitchen island, framed by a wall of Blackbutt joinery. This natural wooden element cleverly conceals the entry to a large walk-in pantry, demonstrating how joinery is integral rather than merely added.

The large five-bedroom home features four and a half bathrooms. Each bathroom showcases a minimal and natural palette of monochromatic hues combined with timber details, echoing the overall aesthetic of the home.

A careful design thinking is evident in the hallway with its timber floor and neatly appointed bedrooms. The linear elements of the materials guide you past the frameless glass entry and continue to draw your eye throughout the home, including the split-level foundation in the kids’ area and the parental retreat.

The outdoor pool area is another testament to the seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. It is an inviting space, perfect for both relaxation and entertaining, that feels like a natural extension of the alfresco dining area and backyard.

Every layer of this true ‘lifestyle’ house, from design thinking to construction detailing, demonstrates the high skills of Finesse Built’s design team, tradespeople, and site supervisors. We thoroughly enjoyed working with our encouraging clients to achieve a home that is beautifully balanced and fully customised to their needs.

Environmental Sustainability

This 6-STAR rated home allows for comfortable living and efficient running costs.

An internal rammed-earth spine wall provides thermal mass to help keep the home cool in summer and warm in winter, while the double glazing throughout and heavy insulation helps protect the inside temperature.

Careful placement of high-level windows and fans promote cross ventilation and passive cooling of the home. Deep eaves protect the home from the worst of the hot summer sun, with operable louvers over the alfresco area letting in the warm winter sun when needed.

Indoor air-quality was a key consideration for the client, with low VOC (volatile organic compound) paint used throughout the main internal areas.
