Designed to embrace its beachside setting, this home balances refined detailing, warm natural materials, and practical function.
From the street, it presents a confident architectural presence: crisp white render paired with natural stone and black steel accents. A floating roofline and expansive glazing create a light, elevated feel, while the layered façade introduces depth, interest, and shadow throughout the day. The stonework base grounds the home, visually anchoring it to the coastal landscape. Every line and junction reflects precision and craftsmanship.
The kitchen embodies quiet sophistication with warm timber cabinetry, subtle curves, and tactile finishes. Vertical tiling to the island bench introduces a sense of craftsmanship, complemented by soft brass lighting and fully integrated appliances.
Positioned at the heart of the open-plan space, the island bench creates a natural connection between the kitchen and living areas. Its curved end encourages gentle movement through the home, whether entertaining or simply reaching for the fridge on warm summer evenings.
The main living area is the social heart of the home, where full-height sliders frame uninterrupted views across the coast and towards Brighton Jetty. A calm, cohesive palette of natural timber flooring, soft greys, and sheer drapery diffuses the afternoon light.
An elegant fireplace and custom joinery add warmth and texture, while the seamless connection to the balcony invites the outdoors in. Refined yet understated, the space allows the ocean outlook to take centre stage.
Like the main living space below it, the master suite enjoys panoramic coastal views through large sliding doors that extend on to a private balcony. A muted neutral palette enhances the tranquil setting and draws focus out towards the coastline.
Bathrooms pair stone-look tiles with timber cabinetry for warmth within a minimalist composition, while fine brass accents introduce subtle luxury. Carefully considered lighting supports both practicality and a spa-like sense of calm.
The additional upstairs bedroom and study continue the restrained material palette, offering light-filled spaces with ample storage and clean, quiet lines. Bespoke matte black joinery and warm timber shelving in the study combine beauty with utility, with views stretching back across the city to the Adelaide Hills.
A collaborative effort between the client and Finesse Built’s in-house design team, the stairway features solid Australian Oak treads, steel balustrades, and a curved timber handrail that extends through all three levels. A black inset detail beneath each tread reinforces the dark balustrade palette and emphasises the illusion of a floating stair.
The sunken lounge at the rear of the home introduces a gentle sense of separation from the main floor. Broad steps create an inviting transition to a space overlooking the backyard, swimming pool, and productive fruit and vegetable garden, with convenient access from the rear laneway.
The four-car under croft accommodates a vehicle turntable for safe entry and exit onto the Esplanade. This level also includes a well-equipped workshop and generous storage for recreational equipment.
The finely detailed stairwell begins here, anchoring the home’s vertical circulation. Beneath the stairs, a 300-bottle wine display sits behind glass against a backdrop of recycled brick. Concealed strip lighting softens the space, creating the ambience of a traditional cellar within a contemporary form.
Environmental Sustainability
In keeping with Finesse Built’s commitment to performance and longevity, the home incorporates environmentally sustainable design principles and exceptional insulation throughout. Passive energy strategies shape the building envelope to minimise summer heat gain and support comfortable indoor temperatures year-round. Operable external blinds provide further solar control where the design balances optimal orientation with sweeping coastal views.
A 20 kW solar array paired with two Tesla batteries enables significant energy independence, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to comfort and sustainability on the coast.
Low-VOC paints and sustainably sourced Australian hardwoods contribute to improved indoor air quality, supporting a healthier home environment.
This is a home designed not only to perform beautifully, but to enrich daily life through light, comfort and an ever-present connection to the coast.
